Striving for Inclusive Development - From Pangkor To A Modern Malaysian State...by HRH Sultan Nazrin Shah

I have a great invitation to attend the special book launching this morning. The book has more than 500 pages and it was authored by HRH Sultan Nazrin Shah. HRH mentioned that the book took more than 2 decades to be accomplished. It is certainly a worth reading material for many thinkers, intelligentsia, policy makers, analysts and the public alike. The book is published by the Oxford Press.

The key word of this book is Inclusiveness. HRH Tuanku mentioned about this theme a few times in his Royal speech. Malaysian economy has been developed by all races and ranks in Malaysia for the last few centuries. The form and sustanstance of economic activities and revenues may have changed but inclusiveness remains relevant and ever green.

I am overwhelmingly touched by the great validity of, and emphasis on, inclusiveness. The moment we tend to be exclusive, the whole infrastructure of humanity (and religiosity) will collapse. The jurisprudence of inclusiveness ought to be a new discpline and frontier of knowledge to be articulated and be brought to the centre stage of academia and institutions of life accross all walks of life. Inclusiveness in itself must be inclusive.

Menjunjung Kasih Tuanku
